POLLARD NITROSPORTS FORGES AHEAD AS SEASON DRAWS CLOSER
Team Takes Home Five Awards at Toronto International Spring Motorcycle Show and
Appoints New Crew Member
(April 8, 2009)Dorchester, ON – The Pollard NitroSports team wrapped up
another successful pre-season outing, this time taking home five trophies at the Toronto
International Spring Motorcycle Show April 4-5. They also recently expanded their crew to
include veteran motorcycle enthusiast Ron Jury, as they look forward to the 2009 season.
The Pollard NitroSports Top Fuel Motorcycle took top honors in five categories at
the two day motorcycle show hosted at the International Centre in
Toronto, ON. The bike, which was a featured attraction at the show this year, earned the best
in show prize in the Level II builder’s category which
pitted it against all of the custom bikes on display at the show not built by professional
“factory style” builders. The team also grabbed top spot in the best drag bike, best
engineered, best engine and best induction system categories, proving once again that it not
only goes fast but stands alone as a fantastic example of exceptional engineering.
The show itself reached record attendance and provided the team with more exposure
than they were expecting going in, including an article in the Saturday edition of the Toronto
Star. “The whole show was a great experience for us.” stated team owner Greg Pollard. “The
number of people that came through that place over the weekend was incredible and the fact that we were able to launch our
new partnership with Brad Penn Lubricants at such a high profile event was an added bonus for
us.”
Joining the team for 2009 will be Ron Jury of Thamesford, Ontario. Ron has been involved with
motorcycle racing for more than 25 years and brings a wealth of knowledge in that discipline to the
team. He will fill many roles with the team, including one as the primary driver for the team
hauler. Ron will work behind the scenes preparing the bike for the race events and will gradually
phase into a contributing role with between round bike maintenance and repairs as the Pollard team
fine tunes their track procedures . He joins an already experienced crew that includes Crew Chief
Greg Pollard, Aaron Langford, Jack Learment, and Taylor Langford.
Entering their first full season of competition with their new Top Fuel Motorcycle
in 2009, Pollard NitroSports is proud to have associate sponsor Brad Penn Lubricants along for
the ride.
About Pollard NitroSports
On the track since the mid 80’s Geoff Pollard has piloted several types of racing
motorcycle to event championships and national elapsed time and speed records. In 1993 Pollard
Racing Canada was formed with the introduction of the teams Alcohol Funny Bike. In 1999 Geoff
scored a Pro Star national event victory and became the first Canadian to eclipse 200 miles per
hour on a motorcycle. After a close battle for the national point’s championship in 2000
the Pollard’s passion to go faster led them to the Top
Fuel Motorcycle division. Their team excelled out of the gate in 2005 setting the Canadian
national record for the class and winning another Pro Star national event making Geoff the first
rider in Pro Star history to win an event in Funny Bike and Top Fuel competition.
The Pollard NitroSports team debuted a new Top Fuel Motorcycle in 2008 and
proceeded to reset both ends of the Canadian record with a 6.08 elapsed time, 231 miles per hour
blast in November of that same year. The team enters 2009 with one goal in mind, eclipse the six
second barrier and become the first Canadian team to do so, thus etching their names in the
record books even further.
